Nice weather for trying to get After Sales Service
I once had poor service from Boulanger on a faulty item - I stayed at the counter and kept explaining my problem to each customer who came along, citing the bad experience I’d had. Eventually the manager gave me a full refund as I was being such a nuisance. A polite nuisance, but a nuisance.

Respect!
I do have a friend that speaks good enough French to go head to head with the occasional "brick wall" but sadly, she lives some distance away. I am of an age now that I tend to avoid conflict where possible because I tend to get very stressed and lose my temper. Not good if I want to get along as a guest here.

On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Had a not dissimilar experience with Darty.
OH bought an item that was clearly defective on first use. They refused a refund because she had used a UK bank card for the purchase. They did not have a replacement, which would have been acceptable to us. So stalemate.
I sat on their returns desk and refused to move. We will call the gendarmes. Please do. You are in breach of our rights. I then started complaining loudly about the lack of customer care and a number of customers were seen to leave - whether as a result of the cuffufull or because they saw Darty as perhaps less reliable than they had thought.
Eventually the manager in charge pulled the cost of the item out of his wallet and presented it in cash.
I apologised for the aggro but explained that if they had simply made the refund the issue would have been solved immediately.
