I consider 49€ per year for prime money well spent & is recovered easily on the carriage charges I would otherwise pay.

Are you saying there are no delivery charges on anything with Prime? And is this Prime across all countries or do you have to pay for each one? UK, FR and DE for instance? And does it cover marketplace sellers too?

As far as Amazon customer service is concerned I may test it to destruction tomorrow after checking if a refund has appeared in my bank for a returned pc which stopped working. It was from a seller based in Madrid and despite Amazon FR telling me to send it via La Poste and pay for insurance (over €40) the seller then said I should have told them in which case they would have collected and, as such, will not pay the postage. On top of that they have not yet paid the cost of the pc either, despite Amazon saying it would be within 5 working days. I posted it on the 24th of December. I don't know about Spain, but plenty of French working days since then. 14, according to my fingers.

Well, that was interesting . . . I have a call with a "retail associate" tomorrow. Let's see if they admit to skimming the VAT as extra profit!

I only use Prime with one Amazon and try hard not to get caught by sellers who charge extra of pnp but not always easy. Usually though it can be managed; otherwise I dont buy.

Prime only applies in the country you subscribe in but the prices are all over the shop if you'll excuse the pun.

Here in Spain it's only €36 pa or €4.99 if you pay monthly. I pay annually but even at the monthly price IMO it's worth every cent.

They even have an English speaking helpline which you can choose on the website when you have a query, you can opt for email or phone back and in the latter they call back almost immediately.

They have a collection point in my town, a shop which is open from 08:30 to 14:30 then 17:00 to 19:00 6 days a week so I have everything delivered there.

Free delivery with Prime only applies to Amazon's own products. Not Marketplace sellers. Same with their money-off vouchers. Likewise with La Redoute etc. Best to check the returns policy before you buy - some marketplace sellers will offer free returns, some won't.

Just to add that on Amazon France you can also opt for the english speaking line as I did in December re packaging for glass baubles. I got a telephone call from the UK and all was very amicable even got a new set of baubles even though I'd said it wasn't necessary as only one bauble of the 12 was broken I just wanted them to know that the packaging was insufficient for glass baubles.

I, in principle never use sellers, except for cheap items, but on this occasion I spent weeks deciding which pc was right for me in so many different ways, the fact that it was sold and despatched from a seller completely passed me by when I came back to it. Never again, I have at last chosen a pc from Amazon DE both sold and despatched by them, but am hanging fire until this is sorted. When it is I will ask in advance of purchase what their cross border returns policy is.

After battling with Amazon FR later today I may go to see my friendly post lady to see if there is anything to be done on the insurance front, if the Spanish crooks maintain that it hasn't arrived yet.

I much preferred the German one without numbers as shifted letters but it is down to preference and perhaps the balance of numeric versus written work.

Already have an English one, so not needed. The returned pc was supposed to come with a keyboard and mouse but had neither. Similarly not required.
