Multiple wasp stings

#11 Post by Spectrum »

When I was a kid a long time ago I was playing in an abandoned park, as kids do and I ran into a wasps nest, I was stung multiple times on the head, I legged it back home as quickly as possible and my mum covered my head in vinegar, I stunk like a plate chips for a day or two

If you use a spray to kill wasps/hornets, make sure you do it at dusk, when they're returning to the nest for the night. And be careful!!

Hope your feeling better today Wilbro, OMG all those stings will give me nightmares.

I've only been stung about 4 times in my (64) life, but it's so painful, would ice help?

As for the 5m spray, make sure it has ilfoudrant as the active ingredient, it's not cheap but is very effective, game over immediately for them

Well the damn wasp sting areas are still red and sore but maybe not quite as bad as yesterday. Obviously going to take a day or two to go down but may go to the pharmacie if no great improvement soon.
@L Austin France Neat protection!
Ice has been mentioned and I've found gently applying a cloth soaked in cold water offers great relief. Washed gently then Anthesan.

@Wilbro Well good luck with the pharmacie. A couple of weeks back I was stung/bitten don't know which but it itched liked mad for some hours leaving a bright red round mark on my leg (no swelling or lump). It was there for almost a fortnight when I thought I'll just pop in the pharmacie and ask for something to put on it having used vinegar/antiseptic spray and finally honey which seemed to do the trick as recommended by a friend who said that's what they use on their horses 🙀. Anyway off I go to the pharmacie. The assistant looks at it with furrowed brows & tells me to sit and wait for the pharmacist. 35 minutes later she arrives (she's being doing boosters) looks at it, prods it, shakes her head, looks more closely and then says in english 'I don't know what it is you had better make an appointment with the doctor. I thanked her politely and nipped across to the bar where OH was waiting with two glasses of wine. "Go to the doctor" - "not on your nelly!" That means a trip to the hospital, numerous tests, probably xrays, pills etc etc - "No not on your nelly" Needless to say the mark has faded to almost not there and I'm still here alive & kicking  However, I can recommend honey externally or internally :D

The vinegar tip really does work, but you have to hold a well-soaked cloth/tissue on the sting for at least 15 minutes, asap after being stung. I now keep bottles of white vinegar all over the place! Any day now the pesky bitches are going to be (largely) wiped out chez moi. I wait for them to clear up any greenfly/blackfly/other plant pests and then zap the nests. They're getting very aggressive as the temperature climbs. The poor cats daren't go near their outdoor drinking bowls for the blasted things.

@Sparkle In my case I know exactly what it was. I may wait another day before trying the pharmacist and see if any improvement. The honey sounds good so will try that.
