Re: ASIAN HORNETS

Our neighbouring gîte had an Asian hornets nest in their hedge. The owner bought a tin of spray. Guess what………..
We have a new hornet gathering in the roof of our carport. They are going in and out through a tiny knot hole in the construction.
What did we do?
Called in a professional who was very surprised to see where they were. He said they were very grumpy. He has treated the hole and surrounding wood. He will come back tomorrow if they are still there. Cost 120 euros.
Interesting that at night 3 or 4 of the little blighters don’t go into the nest but huddle together on the wood close by. They don’t appear to be alive but they are gone in the morning.

We had a nest last year and another recently. Guess where both were ............... In buildings. They haven't learnt the rule book as yet.

Day 4 of the treatment. There are still hornets buzzing around. I will call the guy again later on. He may have to take a couple of tiles off to get at the nest.

Very good news for you Headers.

Do you know if the guy's treatment actually killed the hornets - or might they just have moved elsewhere and taken the problems to someone else?

There are dead ones on the floor. There were a few workers hanging around for a couple of days. We are not sure they moved house again, but there are mainly woods around here apart from two houses(that’s where I think they came from). No complaints from them.
I hope they (the hornets)are dead!

Sadly the man who killed the Hornets has passed away this autumn. He went to do a job , didn’t put his gear on, got stung and literally died in a ditch on the way home.
