Mrs Tiggywinkle has come a calling these last few evenings.
Close enough to let her see me put a few cat biscuits down for her.
Close enough to hear her crunching.
Close enough for me to see the ticks on her face.
So I need some advice before I go and bewilder the vet with my French.
Can I crunch up a tick and flea tablet into a little food for her, aware of the weight difference between her and a cat.
Answers on a postcard please to…….

Perhaps if you could take a close-up of Mrs Hérisson and her tiques and show it to the vet? A picture speaks a thousand hesitant words.
I know nothing about hedgehogs except that they seem to carry a lot of fleas.

They are prone to ticks apparently. And can be hosting lots and lots, especially on their underbelly.
Care is needed in any tick removal.

I think you would need to use a tick remover the type we use for the cat but as @suein56 says you have to be careful and make sure that you do it correctly so as not to leave part of the tick behind. We buy our tick remover from the local pharmacy for around 4 euros. There are two different sizes in the box.

Trying to use medications across species is very dangerous.

as examples,
one of the dog flea and tick collars is lethal to cats.
Paracetamol is lethal to dogs even in small doses.

Manually removing ticks is of course not a problem but you must make sure to remove the head, which if it breaks away and remains attached to the host is likely to cause infection or worse. Ticks can carry Lyme and if the head remains attached the last dying act may be to regurgitate the last mouthful of blood back into the host, together with the Lyme bacteria. The tick removal tools are designed to prevent this. Grabbing the tick between your fingers is not.

Extremely dangerous for cats too .. possibly lethal.
