Thought I'd keep the title general, so it covers all birds!

For the second time, I'm hearing a Nightingale outside this evening. Mr Bayleaf said "no way", so I opened the window nearest to the bird song - yep, that's a nightingale!

Now that DOES seem early! Or not?

Yes, definitely early.

We've taken a recording, as it didn't seem quite varied enough a song for a nightingale. Wonder what it could be!

Ooh, thanks for that njt - we have one for wildflower ID, so wondered if there was one for birdsong......

I'm trying to attach the minute of birdsong on here, but file problem - hopefully will be back later!

My son did one on his phone when we were sitting outside late one night in the summer, we could hear an owl so he got one up and the bird seemed to be replying to his phone,

Just hope that there's not someone over the valley running through birdsong on their phone.

I wondered that! Last year when there were strange owl noises during the day, I thought it was visitors at the house at the top of the valley - but an owl expert assured me it was a young owl just learning!

I've been told that blackbirds also sing at night sometimes, and they sound similar, so an app would be handy for us too.
We play the "owl luring" game too. They are very territorial, and come closer, I suppose until they are convinced its just a numpty with you tube.
