Many lizards this year

They are everywhere those lizards. Once it was a very very fine house with two cats in the yard. Now there is only one, 22 years. Go out for hunting? Please, I'm sleeping. As soon as you open the fridge I'll wake up. Might explain this growing population. Their principal enemies now: the couleuvres.

We have lizards everywhere here too .. although ours is a 'new' house - a mere 20 years old .. the original huge plot was a 'jardin maraîcher' surrounded by dry stone walls. The dry stones walls have all but gone but many stones remained so we have a few rockeries dotted around our garden. And our lizards just love rockeries.
Our old rescue cat would watch the lizards but made no move to chase them .. t'was much more fun to sit in the sun and watch them.

Yes, there is always a plethora of lizards round here. The bright green ones very pretty and get fairly large.
