Re: Acorns
Yes, lots of people say its a sign of a very cold winter to come but its really a sign of a good past spring.

Re: Acorns
I'll have a wonder down the bottom of the garden and have a look at our oaks later Veem, but I can't say I've noticed any falling on the veg plot like they usually do.

Re: Acorns
You've got it Char. Bizarrely, there aren't any here either. Usually, by now we've been walking on an ever-deepening layer of them. Usually, I'd have had the large oak in the paddock completely fenced off for weeks by now to stop the horses eating them. But we've never known autumn with no acorns at all.

Re: Acorns
I hadn't noticed until you posted and it suddenly dawned on me that I hadn't noticed any on my veggie beds, I usually have to clear loads of them off before they start growing into trees. I've been and checked all the oaks in the garden and down the chemin where there are several huge oaks, and none at all.
The hollies seem to have gone into overdrive with their berries and there are plenty of hazlenuts and everything else seems normal, just no acorns. Very odd.

Here in Sud Gironde hundreds of thousands of Acorns strewn across the golf course this week as usual, in fact, more than usual and falling like hailstones when the wind strengthens

Re: Acorns
'praps it depends on where you are and what the weather was like during the spring. We had an extremely wet cold spring so maybe they had difficulty flowering this year.
