I was so sorry to read the sad news. Yes, he had such a good life with you, you and he were lucky enough to find one another. RIP Charlie.

Anyone want a Charlie?

Thanks folks.
It was a bit traumatic first thing this morning.
We're now in the process of re-educating Chancy who's been kept away from Charlie & trying to convince her he's not gonna get her & she really can have her run of the house back.
Really ironic it should happen last night/early this morning as yesterday we'd just put an anouncement in our vets seeking a good new home for Charlie & I'd just bought & installed another cctv camera to keep an eye on Chancy who was now using a part blocked up front of house lounge window to come & go as she'd wouldn't come in through the kitchen where Charlie had taken to sleeping.
Ah well! I wish it hadn't happened but now we can bring forward our plans to adopt another old dog, which Charlie's unexpected presence was holding back, so, in the greater scheme of things it'll not be a complete disaster.

So sorry to hear this sad news, but I'm sure he enjoyed his time with you and you know how his life ended. That is so much more of a comfort than a pet just 'going missing'. I hope Chancy soon regains his confidence around the house and that you'll find the ideal doggy companion for him.

I commend your attitude LAF. Also to be "glass half full" is the only way to cope with setbacks when looking after domestic pets.

For some 35+ years we have rescued border collies and, whilst we reject any suggestion that we might replace a dog which dies, we do quickly say "we have a vacancy" and can help another unfortunate dog.

At least Charlie knew that he'd found a nice home and caring owners - so sad.
With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way into darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine.........The Corpse Bride

Been away for a while & just come back to this sad news. I can only repeat what's already been said. I'm so sorry for you after all you did for the little chap but at least his last few months were full of love.
