Jessie travelled on the back seat with Mme & not a peep. Total zen. Took her for a wander around the garden & introduced her to the chooks, cat & horses. She's not sure what to make of the nags but got nose to nose with one with no probs. Cat walked by her looking aloof but neither looked at each other. Chooks got the once over without being eaten so, so far all good.
The SPA were a nightmare telling us the 7 days period of reflection had to restart today & we were only provisional owners until the time was up. Yeah! try & get her back then.
Their vet couldn't sterilise Jess as he had an emergency so we would have to get our vet to do it & bill them. We were asked for a cheque de caution of €300 & to come back next week after the 7 days to pay the €270 adoption fee by carte bancaire & that's when I started to get a bit irate. Could we pay by CB today? could we bloody hell. Not allowed. "OK what about cash?" I asked "as we're not subjecting this dog to a 4 hour round trip next week just to satisfy your rules".
After the boss was consulted they agreed to cash which luckily I'd brought with us anticipating problems like this.
So, leaving a €300 cheque & €270 cash we finally got some paperwork including a bon for our vets promising to pay their fees.
She's been chipped, vacinated & ours so all's well today.
Seems like she's going to fit in well with the next test being how she'll sleep tonight.
Who said adopting a stray mutt was easy?
