Anyone else on here got donkeys? We've had two for nearly 20 years.

I think @Bayleaf still has one.

My lad will be 13 this month. I'm looking for a jenny to keep him company since his friend filly died last month.

Yep, another donkey owner/fan here! He'll be about 16 now I think.

Here's a moment of messing about by the river with his little mate - in their very fluffy winter coats!

Our farmer has, in the field next to us a donkey.

At first he had 2, one was pregnant. Eventually the beautiful baby was born, so then there were 3.

After a short time Mum and baby disappeared, leaving Eeeore (as we call him) alone.

Now around 4 ish years on Eeeore is still alone. I feel so sad for him. Am I right in thinking donkeys like to be with other donkeys?

Donkeys are in general not solitary creatures. They're happy with any friend - be it another donkey, pony, horse, cow or even goat. There's nothing sadder than any animal in a field on it's own, especially donkeys. Are there animals in a neighbouring field?

Switzerland has strict laws about horses and donkeys (they should be adopted everywhere ...), including not keeping them alone, or even with a non-equine friend.

That's a great law. I wonder sometimes why the EU doesn't seek out these good laws in other countries that are obviously good for everyone, as an example, Denmark has a law that allows anyone to walk and roam on any land as long as they do not cause damage.

I'd hate it if anyone could legally walk or roam across my lawns & field.

Is the law specific about certain things - dogs, distance from someone's house, roaming on fields containing animals ??
