Possible new dog

#1 Post by Blaze »

We've just come back from the SPA and are hoping to adopt a dog ...
Originally we wanted a female border collie, but eventually decided to be less choosy. Pipo is supposedly a BC/Spaniel, born 2019, male recently castrated. He arrived at the fourrière in Rennes, non-identified so in fact they are estimating his age ! He was not claimed at the fourrière so the SPA took him, knowing they would have no trouble homing him.
He's very sweet, needs educating but has no "vices". He has kennel cough so we're getting Rafal vaccinated tomorrow and will go back to the SPA on Monday. You can't reserve a dog, so it's possible that Pipo could go before then but we're hoping the kennel cough will put people off ....
There's always the risk that Rafal and Pipo don't hit it off ...

Good luck.
Hope you don't get the same 'run around' we got at the SPA Redon

The SPA in Saint-Malo is very good and I very much doubt we'll have a problem. He's already been chipped, castrated, vaccinated etc and he's been at the SPA for about 3 weeks. He'd already had the obligatory 10 days at the fourrière and no-one claimed him.

Fingers crossed no-one else takes him before we go there next Monday with Rafal ... But it wouldn't surprise us if he was snapped up this week ...

We had a situation with Jess having been told she was 'reserved' so took a two hour drive & turned up the next day to challenge this.
Spent some time with her, liked what we saw & walked away having 'paid' (folk need to read the history of this debacle to understand that) & eventually became the adoptees of a lovely mutt.
I realise the kennel cough thing might be a dampner but if it's the right companion for Rafal......... :)

Beautiful looking dog with such character in his face. Fingers crossed that he coughs like mad until you arrive to collect him on Monday. He'd be mad not to!!
