Please would you use whatever telepathic or pyschic powers you have to send healing vibes to our little teckel Frodo.

After a few days of noticing that this normally greedy little dog seemed less that normally unenthusiastic to scoff his breakfast and dinner. He didn't even want his tiny tablet (Vetmedin for a heart murmur) wrapped in a little piece of Camembert twice a day. Then his pooh became very dark and soft. We took him to the vet yesterday. Bloods showed kidney failure and the vet kept him in (for 2 days) to put him on a drip to attempt to dilute the levels of Creatine and Urea.

This morning the nurse tells me he is still on the drip (bless you Frodo for not pulling out the needle), hasn't eaten anything (we are going to see him at 11, so will take something tempting and hope). He gets horrible car sick so has never been used to going anywhere apart from home and he'll be feeling very lost and scared.

Next week is his 13th birthday.

I asked the vet nurse when we arrived if Frodo had cried. His response was a massive eye roll and a ' Yes, he's very noisy!'

The moment we went in we could hear the wag of Frodo's tail banging on the metal walls of his cage and his humungous screams of excitement. He ravenously cleared every morsel of cheese, meat and kibble and would have had more if I'd let him, but we didn't want to risk making him sick. It was horrid to have to put him back in the kennel for another long day. If the perfusion helps towards an improved blood test tomorrow morning, fingers crossed we shall be able to bring him home. We both feel very reassured at having seen how incredibly lively he was.

Your post of 12.19 pm sounds very hopeful - I hope Frodo continues to improve and is home with you tomorrow.

One of our border collies has had liver issues since we got him. He is fed exclusively on a special hepatic food which, thankfully, he likes. From time to time his liver allows toxins back into his bloodstream which then travel up to his brain - this makes him feel very unwell, lethargic and he stops eating. No matter how often this happens we still panic and get him straight to the vet for reassurance but they are very, very worrying events.
