Online tax return is open

There are always local 'service points' where you can get help for free
Ask your Mairie, or search for France Services to find your nearest public service help centre.
Also local tax offices have walk in times, at their base and around the Departement
How do people live without at least one dog in the house?

Of course, by the same time tomorrow there will be people posting how easy it is.
They'd better not! No-one likes a know-it-all! I have an horrible feeling that if you own a computer (and they know that), you are obliged to submit online. That said, if they keep changing the ruddy layout - and probably not for the better, we're all going to keep making errors! I guess that's not their problem though ..... I'm not rushing to do it this year - there's usually glitches at the beginning, that get ironed out over the first couple of weeks. Deep breath and comforting drink needed before each attempt!
Can you source the "if you own a computer (and they know that) you are obliged to submit online" please. Every year we hear a similar thing - a couple of years ago someone on one of these forums said a similar thing and that if we did a paper return we would leave ourselves open to an audit as though we were doing something wrong. We will do a paper return again this year as we have done for the past 23 years.

Hope that’s helpful.

This is what I received this morning and it has a let out clause for those people who want to submit a paper return.
Personally I find the electronic version far more straightforward.

I just had a look at the tax website and remembered something about having to declare something they most likely already know about the use of my property.

This is the translation done by the website itself.
"INFORMATION REQUIRED FOR THE DECLARATION OF OCCUPATION
XXXXX XXXX - COTES-D'ARMOR XXXXXXXXXX
The information held by the administration indicates that your property is vacant.
Since January 1 2023, as a landlord, you are obliged to declare who occupies your living quarters.
If this information is correct, we invite you to click on the "No change" button.
If the situation has changed, we invite you to click on the "Declare" button."

This is a prime example of why so many of us have difficulty with French tax etc. this time of year. I am not a landlord. The house at the address mentioned is my only house and I live in it. So A) their information is incorrect. B) the situation has not changed.

So straight away, neither of the two option buttons are factually correct. If this is the introduction to French Tax form 2023 Dog knows what lies in store for the actual tax forms.

Dominic: With a paper form it is usually easier for me because I can look at the previous year's form and just put this year's numbers in the same boxes (unless they have switched things around just to confuse us).
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

I understand that. You can do the same with electronic returns as long as they haven’t changed things too much and online you only see the bits you need so there’s less to trawl through. I think that it’s better if they continue to offer both options as it has to be suitable for the user.
I was showing my aunt how I could use my tablet to cast YouTube videos onto a TV last week and although she loved the idea even that level of technology would be beyond her. She would not be able to cope with an online tax return at all.

I have only ever done paper declarations and intend to do so. My eyesight does not help with filling out detailed online forms. It will be interesting to see how the property form is going to be handled.

Badly, like everything else. Ridiculously complicated or ambiguous phrasing so it can be easily misunderstood. You'd think if they want our money they would at least make extracting it easier.

No, because that wasn't my whole sentence you quoted - it was just an horrible feeling as I've seen it mentioned elsewhere from other conversations.

Oh dear it's head scratching time again. I've just read on 'The Connexion' Social Charge Exemption on Foreign Pension Income - 'Remember there are now boxes for stating you are not a burden on the French health system in order to qualify for a social charge exemption on foreign pensions. They are found at boxes 8RP/8RQ on paper this is on the 2042C form.'

If I remember correctly didn't we previously tick the 8SH/8SI boxes for this reason? I may have got the wrong end of the stick and I can't find the paper forms for 2023 on the Impot system.
With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way into darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine.........The Corpse Bride

If you are covered by S1 you still need to tick 8SH/8SI and I have done so. I wondered about 8RP/8RQ but it appears to only apply to gains. I haven’t ticked them yet but I may go back in and do it if someone can persuade me it’s a good idea. That’s why I like to get it done early so that I can have multiple attempts and if I get run over by a bus at least I got something registered in the system.

This is an extract from a FB group (the writer is well versed in french taxation) it doesn’t really correlate with what Connexion are saying.

« The italics to the side of 8RP and 8RQ say it is to be ticked if you have made an entry in boxes 1TT/1UT.

These boxes (1TT/1UT) are to be used for "Gains de levée d'options attribuées à compter du 28.9.2012 ; gains d'acquisition d'actions gratuites attribuées à compter du 28.9.2012 sur décision prise au plus tard le 7.8.2015 ; gains d'acquisition d'actions gratuites attribuées sur décision prise à compter du 31.12.2016 pour leur fraction excédant 300 000 €"

If you were both lucky enough to have declared gains from these kind of share options then you can tick 8RP and 8RQ. »
