Accountant?
Our financial situation will be changing and has already changed, but from next year we feel we should have the expertise of an accountant, but can't find a recommended one, or even one at all.
As some of you may remember my OH was working on a ferry offshore, for over 20 years in fact.
He was made redundant in March, was paying Impots and securite social via ENIM, the mariners Ameli. Now for his final few months before retirement he's working in the UK. He gets his pension in March and hopefully an S1.
As it could be complicated, can anyone recommend someone who can help with impots, even if it's online please?

We have used these people since we moved to france in 2006, they are English speaking and understand both the french and uk tax systems. My only real criticism is that they have now a lot of clients, and aren't always as quick getting back to you as I would like.
They are based in Herault(34)

When we started our translation biz in 2002, wee had the devvil's own job to get an accountant. I did our tax returns for a couple of years then contacted KPMG in Limoges, more in hope than expectation. They took us on and didn't charge a fortune. They continue to do our returns now, even though it's just pension and investment income. Long may it continue!

We use Frenchtaxonline. English speaking office manager (Joanne), very helpful. Don"t know if their fees are average but they do a good job and we dont have the hassle ourselves. They were recommended by our English accountant when he retired.

I have just had a quick look at this company as doing on line is a complete mystery to me. Their prices seem to start from 495€, with a 50% tax credit, which is academic in our case as we never pay any tax. We normally just trot up the impots with our pension incomes written down, let them use the figure they want to use for conversion and 15 minutes later all done

I use Fiscaly.fr.
I pay tax in the UK on teachers pension, another pension plus my state pension and annuities are taxed in France.
I had help from a French friend who used to liaise with the local tax office but when this was moved to Bergerac she struggled. I had a rebate the first year which I had to pay in full the following year. (Thankfully I’d put the money on one side, in case). I then decided I needed a professional.
I don’t know how they compare but I’m confident in the way they are completed and submitted. It costs me 400€, but I don’t have worries about it.

When you use a "professional" service don't you still have to collect, collate and calculate the figures?
I looked into one service in my early days and it seemed to me that all they did was put your calculations onto the form - although they did suggest a figure you might be asked to pay.

Of course you have to gather the figures together as without them they cannot know what your income is. The benefit is that they know which boxes to fill in as the forms can change from year to year and if there is a problem it is up to them to correct it. Makes for a hassle free life.
