Yes I always get the payment demand before they post the document. Don’t have to pay until 27/12.

Only for second home owners and a few wealthier taxpayers now. What worries me is where they will take their revenge with some new tax.

Part of the reason for "abolishing" TH was to force communes to be less profligate in their spending habits - some of the most moche 'works of art' (usually slung together by the mayor's cousin/nephew/sister's son-in-law) have been financed by the ratepayers. Not to mention the roads and roundabouts going nowhere.
If no TH really benefits those with modest incomes, alors tant mieux.

I know that if we were still in the last house we owned in the UK, we'd be paying much much more.

Well move to St Yrieix and you will change your mind - €85K house pays €2.5K tax vs £300K house pays £1.6K tax

edit - and as for reducing profligacy - it didn't work!

Seeing as there are changes afoot for waste disposal - that's one area they're going to reap rewards, unless people get savvy and find another way of getting rid of all their non-recyclable rubbish ......hmmm - rise in fly tipping peut-être?
