Prescriptions in DOM's
I was prescribed them in A&E when I had a bad reaction to a wasp sting on my head and the side of my face blew up, 6 months later I was stung on the hand, again it started to swell, I still had some left from the first time, so took them again. Next time I went to the doctor I told her what happened and asked if I could have a prescription to keep some for emergencies and she obliged and usually keep some on me in case, backed up with a current prescription. Then asked for a renewal each time it ran out.
The initial problem was about 5 years ago and at least a couple of years since I took any.
The only reason that I took some this time was, my hand was starting to swell after a mozzie bite on my nuckle right next to the finger I needed to do regular exercise since a recent operation for trigger finger.
I must have looked up what they were at the time, but forgotten then got it in my mind that they were antihistamines.

Steroids are great for inflammation, they won’t do much for the allergy side of things, it might be worth asking for some strong anti histamines to carry in case of a reaction

The NHS website does say that cortisones can relieve the effects of bites and stings, although they suggest as a cream.
