Reactive lenses.

#1 Post by demi »

I have new glasses as my prescription has changed. I decided to try reactive lenses as the opticans have an offer that if I don't like them they will change them for normal lenses, free of charge, within 60 days.

I have had them for 4 days and the vison is fine but I don't really like the reactive lenses. I hadn't realised that they were so sensitive & darkened even on a cloudy morning like today.

Has any one else got them & did you get used to them & if so how long did it take. At the moment I can't wait to change them but wonder if I should give it a bit more time for me to get used to them.

I’ve had them for years with progressive lenses. Usually I adjust from bright sunlight to the house and have just got used to it, they transition very quickly. The great thing for me is not to have to worry about sunglasses.

I wondered about reactive lenses but in the end decided to get progressive sunglasses instead for the first time. Perhaps it was just fear of the unknown, but I do a fair amount of night driving and wasn't sure how well they adjust at night.
I'm extremely pleased with the sunglasses and wonder why I hadn't got them before. That said, at my last test the optician said there was a tiny hint of cataracts and sunglasses would be a good idea.

If you've got 60 days, keep at them a bit longer, you may well find they're very good once you get used to them.

I’ve had them for years, but I must admit I do treat myself when it comes to my glasses.

My réactives I wear most of the time in Spring, Autumn and Winter. I have clear lenses which I tend to wear around the house and when I’m gardening and sunglasses when I need something stronger, especially if I’m poolside in summer.

All of my lenses are progressive and I’ve been wearing them for around 20 year. I changed my glasses at the beginning of this year but, like Blaze, I was told there was a hint of a cataract so have to return at the beginning of December.

I have worn them for 45 years, without them I end up squinting when it is sunny, but they react to UV hence they can change even on a cloudy day. I have to admit they can be a bit of a pain if you a doing something that means you are going in and out of sun and a much darker place as they are not as quick as I would like. At night shouldn't be a problem as they shouldn't change due to streetlights or headlights. Everyone is different, but yes, if you have 60 days I would persist with them a bit longer.

It's a bright sunny (Frosty) day here so will give them another go and see how I feel after another week.
