You can always sit somewhere near, or in the vaccination arc for 15 minutes, or more

So with a target 1 million doses per year, that is just 10 potentially lethal car crashes per day! Or 100 pre Christmas family catastrophes.

Sorry Pathca I Know it's not like that but can you imagine the Express headlines.

Almost everyone with a really bad reaction will keel over before they get the car key out of their pocket.

They would probably not have even left the building in a lot of cases To be fair all that would be needed is to say “ You can leave, but don’t drive for 15 minutes” Just put it on the paperwork

People weren't getting ill as such during the 15 minutes observation, but there were many complains of feeling faint or sick and they were taken to the sick bay. It was 99% psychological (hysteria) due to stress and anxiety at the beginning of the vaccination programme. With all the rubbish put about on social media and by journalists, it wasn't surprising.

Most people coming through at the moment are on their 3rd jab and are pretty cool about it. Some of them have health issues, others are dumped by their ambulance/taxi driver so we keep an eye on them, and it's clearly very much appreciated. The positive reaction to our banter in the surveillance area makes it all worth while.

Our centre is at the former swimming pool and it isn't possible to create more "boxes" for vaccinations to be done. With over 800 people a day coming through and the limited number of medical staff and benevoles, we're just keeping afloat. Each centre/pharmacy/medical cabinet will operate differently. Our centre is run by the SNSM (French lifeboats) and it seems to work very well.

Government decisions are based on the advice of medical experts. It doesn't mean that their different opinions are wrong, just that they see things differently - it was ever thus !

People react (or not) differently and there doesn't seem to be any particular reason why. As @Pathca said, it could be the vaccination or combination that they were given. We both had AZ for the first 2 and Pfizer for the third. No problem whatsoever apart from a slightly tender spot at the injection site yesterday and today we're fine. Some people we know who had the same combination of vaccines had fever, aching muscles and stiffness. We took a couple of doses of paracetamol immediately afterwards and before going to sleep, as recommended by our nurses.

Headlines like this from the Daily Fail (I sometimes flick through "the papers" on BBC News App) really do not help:
"I'm jabbed up to the eyeballs - and I shall go to the Christmas Ball" says Dame Jenni Murray.

Seriously, how is that helping? My step-dad's wife says things like that - she had covid a couple of months ago, and she's ill again (don't know if she's testing herself or assuming it's only a cough/cold). She caught something from somewhere, so she's not being as careful as she could be. "Probably caught something from those dirty children at bell ringing" she says. Despite being a mother and grandma herself (yes, there's no love lost between us!)

As proven by the death of Jethro - you can have all three jabs and still die. I wish this point would be got across by the policitians/media, that you still need to be careful - mask/distance. As so many seem to hang on the words of the inept leaders, and either don't understand or are what? I don't know! Is it actually said, when having another jab, that it doesn't offer complete protection? Certainly no mention from my own Doc (although she was talking so fast, I didn't catch all of what she was saying this time. She seemed to be on one more than usual!) Do people still think "I'm jabbed, I'm invincable". My own elderly clients said this after their first two, and I feel duty bound to enlighten them!

Another issue that’s annoying me is people saying omicron is milder like a flu, that maybe but it is obviously more transmissible so one balances the other, and you will probably get just as many very ill off it

At last booster done this morning in some grotty school, staff extremely pleasant, but in the middle of what I can only describe as a ghetto. Just awaiting the sweats and shivering now.
