How do you organise a taxi for a hospital visit? My OH has ALD. Do you pay the driver or is it all sorted by the hospital and how does he know when to pick you up for the return?
Thanks in advance

You need a Bon de transport from the consultant who is seeing him. Once you have been ‘delivered’ to the clinic, they will ring the taxi when you are ready to go home again.

That's what I thought but when I asked at the hospital they just ring to book. Sounds a bit iffy

Make sure you ask for 'transport sanitaire' and not a taxi.
I got caught out the other week when I had a rdv (and a bon de transport) I ended up paying €120 for which I've demanded repayment from the Sécu. When I asked the driver why he wouldn't accespt the Bon, he said they'd had a 'souci' with Sécu. I just hope I get repaid.

Mme LAF recently had to go to hospital for a very early scanner RDV re her ALD problem.
She didn't know what to do so just phoned the local taxi service, who she knew did hospital trips, & they sorted everything.
The return trip home a day later was organised by the hospital staff.
All very easy. No bons needed as far as I remember. I do know she's received & paid a bill for about €19 for the outward trip but nothing coming home as far as I know.
Can't ask her until tomorrow as she's in the UK at the mo.

Once you ve got the bon de transport from.consultant, phone the local taxi ambulance Co., not any old taxi service! Nowadays there are all sorts of options if they want to see the bon...e-mail, photo by smartphone etc. Arrange time for pick.up. Sometimes the driver
asks for the bon, sometimes not. As above, the hospital will arrange the return journey as RDVs are often delayed.

Thanks for your input. As it happens we have got, without asking, a prescription médicale de transport. Not decided when to use it as I am quite happy driving ourselves at the moment.

If you drive I think you can claim it back.

Not that hard up. Interested in using a taxi for the convenience. Parking at the hospital is difficult but have always managed so far. Fingers crossed.
