I have felt lousy for almost a week. Hacking cough, nose congestion, aching everywhere.
The cough is disturbing me at night, i barely get more than a couple of hours sleep.
Concerned it my be a chest infection today I saw the Dr. My chest is clear so she's diagnosed flu. Codeine & paracetamol, and a cough syrup.
I feel pretty awful and hope I'm over it in time for our daughters wedding on Saturday

Hope the medicine does its work and you're better by Saturday. Ditto on the Covid test ? It's still roaring around.
Best wishes to your daughter (and the groom).

Yes, I've been visiting an elderly client who's currently in Excideuil hospital - he said they all masked up last week and everyone had to take a test.
I do hope you're better by Saturday, MOTM2.

I bought a covid test and it's negative. I didn't realise you had to pay for them now.
Dr gave me some powder stuff that appears to be making me cough more. Mucomyst, had to pay for that too.

He must feel you need to get what's stuck in your chest / nasal cavities out. Never pleasant, but hopefully will help.

After coughing all night my chest feels very sore today nothing seems to be helping and coughing is in turn making my throat hurt.
Any useful tips to try and help it?

Yes, all that coughing risks turning into Bronchitis. Have you tried the throat lozenges with Lidocaine in them ? They really do help. Not cheap, but easily found at pharmacies. Calming chamomile tea might help. Resting is so important.
