These are the most common ingredients for Southern style biscuits in the U.S.
Ingredients
2 cups (10 ounces) all-purpose flour, plus 1/4 cup more for dusting
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 stick (4 ounces) unsalted butter, frozen
1 cup buttermilk
I've always thought of scones to be sweet not savory. I know both exist. You can, of course, change up the above ingredients and make a sweet biscuit, but a 'normal' biscuit in the South would be the above. Only exception would be to switch out the butter with shortening (I can't find that same product here).
Are scones the same?

No idea. That was a copy and paste. I use ordinary salt.
Had to look it up.
