Here's to 2026

I wish the best possible 2026 to all: health first, then happiness, or at least contentment. Anything more would be a bonus.
A grim year for me too, but if I popped my clogs tomorrow, at least I'd have had an interesting life!

We are spending our first New year in Autun. Still quite a lot of laid snow around when we arrived and now on roofs and in protected gardens. The hills protect some slopes and forests; one side of the Morvan slopes are clear and the opposite sides snow covered. Uninterrupted sunshine for three days now.

However, I forget about urban living and at 12.00 last night, all hell broke loose with the Official firework display (about 200 meters away) and those of neighbours around us. New dog went TV rental and wanted to fight the world 'till about 12.45 .

I wish everybody a happy, healthy year ahead and I hope all your moves, sales, etc come to pass to your satisfaction. Ideally MAD, without any clog popping!

We were knackered after a very cold first aid duty yesterday so by the time midnight arrived, we'd already drunk our fizz and were ready for the land of nod ! Unusually, there didn't seem to be any fireworks anywhere, but as I didn't look out of the window, I wouldn't have seen them anyway

Just watched the London fireworks on YouTube. It started with a warning "contains flashing images " Quel surprise!

Belated Happy 2026 to you all. Our best friends are both suffering a serious attack of the flu that's been going on since 18 December she is 80 next year so we've got their shopping and dropped it off on their doorstep and chatted via the phone. They are very sad that we haven't been able to spend the planned Christmas & New Year together which got me thinking and yesterday I said to them in the words of the song 'it's just another day' and those words have sat on me and yes every day is just another day - yesterday's gone, tomorrow has yet to come but today is now and we are going to enjoy it especially when thinking of those poor souls who have lost their lives recently in whatever circumstances.......and I'm really not being morbid............so again Wishing you All a very happy and healthy 2026. xx
