In the Merseyside area they are always referred to as Yorkies or Yorkie Puds

I do like Yorkshire pudding but I’ve never heard of them referred to as Yorkies.

As a born and bred Yorkshire man we used to call them "Yorkies" and yes I've just made the batter, and taken the sausages out of the freezer, so "Toad in Thoil" for tea, with onion Jus of course.

I spent 43 years in Yorkshire and visited family on other occasions and this thread is the first time I've come across the term for Yorkshire Puddings as Yorkies. Where on earth in Yorkshire did you live Spectrum?

Judging by the thoil rather than t'oil - I would guess Todmorden or thereabouts. Certainly somewhere more influenced by Lancs than Yorks.
