Finally, after many tries using different flours, have made a few loaves in the breadmaker which my slicer machine will consistantly cut to 12.5mm for sandwiches. Still can't cut my white breakfast toast loaf with the machine without destroying it but who cares, a breadknife works fine.
Prepackaged supermarket Francine mon Pain de Compagne was the answer using the quantities on the packet with a spoonfull of oil.
Simple in the end with a lovely consistency & great taste.
Get yer machine out of the cupboard Hotrodder & give this a go.

My breadmaker is used every three days. The slicer thingie remains of questionable use.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

If you read all of my post you might have realised I was talking about baking bread that could be succesfully cut up with a slicer thingie which I thought you were complaining about wasting your dosh on.
Thought I might be helping but .............
