Posting Photos on the forum
There are two ways you can add a photo to your posts.
To upload a photo via the attachments option you simply click on the attachments tab with you will see beneath the posting box, then click on Add files which will open up a window to your computers drive. Find the image you wish to use, click on open and it should show below the posting box like this:-
Click on the 'Place inline' button and you should see the following code appear in your post [attachment=0 ]attachments.JPG[ /attachment ] without the gaps in the brackets.
To make sure your photo shows in your post, you can click on the Preview button which is next to the Submit button - this will show you exactly what your final post will look like. It's handy to use for double checking spellings as well before submitting your post. However, don't forget to click the submit button when you're happy with your post, otherwise you will lose it all.
Please note: There is a size limit using the attachments option - you are restricted to 300 KiB. As an example the picture posted below has been resized to 900 px x 600 px and is 82 KB.

Posting Photos hosted on another website
As well as uploading images onto the forum via the attachment option, you can add images hosted on another website using the URL for the image. So if you have a flickr, 500px etc account you can post your image directly from your account there.
Once you have the URL (like this for example https://drscdn.500px.org/photo/12364971 ... 0369fe2732) you can paste this into a post.
Highlight the link and press the IMG button, and that will put tags around the URL, so it will now look like this [ img ]https://drscdn.500px.org/photo/12364971 ... 0369fe2732[ /img ] (but without spaces in the tags). Once that's done, and your happy with the Preview, submit the post like normal and the image will be embedded in your post, Like this.
If you right click on an image and open in a new tab, you will be able to see the image with a black background, this enables you to appreciate the image more without all the distracting forum paraphernalia.
Copyright: Please only post photos that you have either taken yourself or have permission to use.

Try this free site : https://picr.de It's in German but is easy to follow !
You drag and drop into the yellow zone or click on "Bildupload". (Bild = picture) Then to see your photos, click on "Bildverwaltung". Each photo has an orange box with "Code" which you click on.
You then get this :
Copy the second line with the img in brackets and paste onto your forum. It resizes automatically and it's easier than fiddling around with pixels !

Don't want to muddy the waters but this Luddite uses an app called Lit Photo on my Android tablet & phone which is simple to use.
Open app, chose 'compress photos, select photo from camera & tap on it , tap on arrow top rh of screen to confirm, select quality ( somewhere around 35% is fine), tap 'start compressing'. instantly photo is compressed & stored in phone memory. select this photo to post.

How very bizarre, @niemeyjt - it wasn't there 5 minutes ago when I wanted to use it on the News from Melbourne thread, neither the 'Add files' tab under the Quick Reply box nor the 'Attachments' tab under the full Reply box, but they're both there now.

@Char Whatever fiddling you did has worked like a charm as l don't need to use Easy Resize any longer as all my posted pictures are automatically adjusted - Bravo!
