I was waiting to board a plane at Heathrow the other day listening to the final announcements; the ground steward was announcing information about boarding as per usual. But, the person had a strong non Uk regional English accent and I could not understand what was said. Would it be wrong to expect a standard British English voice under these circumstances or is that seen as racism these days?

It's not just an English thing, or even an accent one. At Bordeaux airport recently, two consecutive flights were called at the same gate and boarding instructions issued. The first one (a chap) was slow, clear, precise French and even I understood every word. The second one by a female was an unintelligible gabble. It was interesting to watch the confusion caused by the unintelligible one :D

I struggle tto unnerstan most English accents, but most of the problems here I find are due to folk not being trained inn the use of a microphone. Most sound as if they're either trying to eat it or snog it.

I understand it's a recorded message @Pathca

Sorry it's been cancelled. If you wait an hour for the next one you might be lucky - or maybe not.
