Nord 251/Noratlas, the last one still flying

#1 Post by Blaze »

Saint Michel is the patron saint of parachutists and this plane has come up from Provence to participate in the current celebrations at Mont Saint Michel. It's the last of it's kind that is still airworthy and flying.

This plane has been used since 1956 in various countries for parachute operations. Like everyone round here, I was attracted by the wonderful sound of its engines so was delighted to see it several times flying very low over us, going between the airport near Dinard and Mont Saint Michel.
Its relatively slow speed made it easy to photograph !

Thank you for that, Blaze.

I am 90% certain I saw it at Farnborough or Brize airshow some 20+ years ago. (amybe even 25+ years)

I did go to an awful lot of airshows & some of them blend into each other now.........................
