I am reminded of my old 60s Afghan goat coat. Everybody loved it................until they got close enough to smell it. Anybody remember those? The western copies were OK but the real ones really did pong.
Ohhh yes! My burning ambition on becoming a student was to save up enough for an Afghan It was a bit whiffy, not helped by being used as a groundsheet at several music festivals, although it did clear us our own space OH consigned it to the compost heap in 1995, after I'd sent his 60s gear to a charity collection. The big difference was that I could still get into my coat

The collar is a big thickly furry monstrosity.
I am thinking of taking the collar off and possibly the sleeves and turning it into a long gilet.
What colour is the collar, Headers? Don't chuck it.....I could buy it from you. We're in the same département so no problem to collect....I love big, thickly-furry monstrosities

I had what was referred to as a "goat coat" bought for £13 in Biba, High St. Ken in the early 70s. Bad to be near for anyone with a sense of smell, but lovely embroidery.

I remember those, but never had one. I bought the suede boots that came well up the knee from Biba - they came in all sorts of colours. High St Ken was brilliant in those days. Remember Indiacraft ? I loved their long cotton dresses !!

When I first arrived in UK I was not allowed to work as a condition of my visa. To keep from dying of boredom I used to buy leather and suede offcuts from Exchange & Mart and made copies of those boots to sell in my local pub. I couldn't quite manage the knee high ones because the offcuts were too small but the shorter ones sold well. The line included moccasins, chokers, clutch bags, key cases, all with optional beadwork or fringes. Happy days.
