Just when you thought it was safe . . .
I am still blowing my nose constantly from the May 28th posting of the cold I had then.
It seems like it will NEVER stop. It was a head cold, no sore throat, etc. Just a head and nose full of guck. Covid test twice said negative and it didn't really feel like Covid, but it just NEVER goes away whatever it was/is.
Regarding people with young children/babies and pregnant women - round here, the ones I see all seem to be living life as if Covid never existed. How well that will work for them, I guess, is yet to be seen.
I still see a plethora of sick kids with their Mom/Father when I do my shopping.

Also allergy to damp spores. It's been so wet and humid here (pretty much since last summer), we've had damp spores and mouldy areas in the house for the first time ever - that gets right up the nose!

It appears a "new" Covid variant is spreading - and France seems to have the biggest rise in cases. This one named "Frankenstein" (who thinks up these names?!). We caught a particularly nasty strain back in July - apparently nicknamed 'Razorblade" because of the excrutiating sore throat, and up until then I had been proud of the fact I'd escaped this lurgy. Maybe it's equivalent to having a dose of vaccine as my body hopefully has a little more resistance for a while?
Well folks, it never goes away. So remain vigilant, and keep away from strangers, well keep away from frequent travellers as we caught it from visiting family!

Yes, this was on the news last night or the night before. Apparently it's no worse than any of the recent variants and without proper testing, you wouldn't know which strain you had as not everyone experiences the same symptoms. We just have to live with it and treat the symptoms. It's rare to see people in masks and I sometimes wonder if those that do wear them today are trying to protect themselves or others.
No doubt vaccines will be offered soon but they're unlikely to give full protection against any recent variant like Frankenstein?

The variants in the UK at present are very virulent and there’s been an increase in hospital admissions due to Covid the last few weeks

I just received a letter from Amelie about my grippe vaccine & it said I can also have Covid at the same time. The roll out starts 14 October where I am.

There’s an interesting article on the BBC news website about the new variants of covid, with warnings of a razor sharp sore throat:

My step-dad's wife has just been diagnosed with it - I don't know if she caught it in hospital, or that was the reason she went into hospital the previous week. At admission she was said to have eye infections and dangerously low sodium levels (among other ailments), although she complained of heart problems.
@Polly We think we had Nimbus back in July from visiting family who'd been mixing with lots of people on their way down through France. All three of us at home were wiped out for a month, and took another month to get enough stamina back to resume work. Two months without income. I'd rather keep my distance from people!!

I had my covid vax a few weeks ago because of my age and my wife gets hers shortly. Also had the Bronchite jab the other day and due for my Shingrix 2nd jab in a few weeks along with my grippe one at some stage. Talk about pin cushions!
