Re: PCR tests
Still easy to get wrong though, 43 000 incorrect results in a Wolverhampton clinic, now suspended while being investigated.

"Concerns were raised when people had positive lateral flow tests, but negative follow-up PCR results from the lab between 8 September and 12 October - most affected live in the South West of England.
The error could mean thousands of people infected with Covid were wrongly told to stop isolating, and may have infected others."
My sister lives in the SW, and said last week that the virus has taken off again.

Re: PCR tests
I don’t think that was a case of getting it wrong though ,more sheer incompetence . The virus is taking off again here largely due to mask wearing having mostly gone out of the window

The third wave was so predictable once cooler weather and return of schools happened. Sadly.

Re: PCR tests
Not only Covid, but bugs like colds and gastro are rearing their heads again as people become less scrupulous about hygiene, and with mask wearing being relaxed. Last winter we had a degree of protection by masks. Now, we may be protected (to a certain degree) from Covid by being vaccinated, but we will have built up no resistance against the common bugs so going unmasked makes us vulnerable to common colds and the like.

Tell me about it ! I felt so rough yesterday I went for a PCR test which was negative, but I still feel pretty bad. When I rang the boss to say I wouldn’t be in she said there’s a lot off with it. Not Covid but to ill to work

Re: PCR tests
I don't go anywhere without wearing a mask and I regularly wash my hands and use that hand wash stuff that all the shops have at the entrances - but I've still managed to pick up a really nasty cold - my poor throat doesn't know what's hit it, although OH seems happy that I can't talk very much.

Re: PCR tests
We've both been hit by a cold and sore throat which is unusual for us. I forget just how grim we can feel ... and this despite wearing masks except for a group singing rehearsal 10 days ago.

Re: PCR tests
We always seem to get sore throats and snotty noses at this time of year, when the temperature drops drastically at night. Totally random, and we rarely mix with others without getting masked up. Daughter in Toulouse complained of the same, as did sister in Devon. It's rife, but is it just a reaction to weather change sometimes?

Re: PCR tests
Neither do we but luckily as yet no colds but loads of catarrh, had it on and off since christmas 2019 when we were certain we got covid, after it came public as posted before, on going back in Feb. 2020 found out lots suffered the same. Fishermans friends work magic.Char wrote: ↑Sat Oct 16, 2021 2:58 pm I don't go anywhere without wearing a mask and I regularly wash my hands and use that hand wash stuff that all the shops have at the entrances - but I've still managed to pick up a really nasty cold - my poor throat doesn't know what's hit it, although OH seems happy that I can't talk very much.![]()
