Ha! I've got a solution!

Those anti-vaxxers, anti-pandemic, anti-covid believers, and those that say "pfff, it's just a bad cold, I'll carry on regardless and to hell with it." Well, if and when they do get infected and ill - they should be happy to sign a disclaimer that says "Don't treat me - this was my choice" So they don't clutter up the hospitals and infect valuable hospital staff.

If they then complain, we can retort "It's just a bad cold you said - get over yourself"!

I know it wouldn't happen - but ....

I think they should have to pay a fee should they arrive at hospital putting doctors/nurses/patients at risk due to their idiocy - here if we have to go to A&E for whatever reason we have to pay almost 20 euros and that's being in the French health system so why not make a charge in the UK for all those anti vaxxers?

I know I'm an old cynic, and I am sure nothing of the sort could ever happen, but any charging could become the thin end of a wedge that ends in the privatisation of the NHS.

Yet UK productivity is one of the lowest in the G20, maybe the Daily Heil should look at the root causes. A good start would be years austerity and cut backs in the NHS, then a pandemic. I’m surprised it hasn’t fallen apart already. The same race to the bottom is why people in some private companies are on the hamster wheel of working long hours out of redundancy anxiety while the companies don’t invest in training and motivation to increase productivity.

That wouldn't fit in with the uk gov narrative though - they seem to want to try to deflect blame from themselves all the time, and stir up antagonism against others - it was the Doctors not long ago.
People don't seem to understand that medical staff are putting their lives on the line every day at the moment.

Blame for what? The attitude seems to be that the laws are not applicable to them, thus they cannot be held accountable.

What really annoyed me about the headline was they commented about sickness in the NHS then complained about staff taking their holidays. I don’t think anyone not directly involved can realise exactly what it’s like for those on the front line (I’m not quite there but close)
When there is some sort of return to normality,as near as we get,people are going to want fully functioning health care staff and they may well not get them.The knock on effect will far outlast the virus

A typical trashy DM headline designed to attract comment. There are many jobs/occupations where the average is similar for days taken off sick, the DM is just having a dig.
Staff are entitled - and need - a break from time to time, even more so if they are working in critical situations, under immense pressure, whether physical or mental.
The DM is fit for nothing but lighting the fire.
