Whilst we’re being pedantic Nu is pronounced Ni (as in the knights who say ni - been dying to get a Monty Python reference into this thread). Irrelevant now they’ve bottled out and called it omicron.

On a positive note been hearing that both the AZ & BioNTech vaccines can be tweaked pretty rapidly.

My old Maths teacher used to get wound up by the radio commentator who used "O" - the letter - instead of zero or nought.

And let's not get onto the Oxford comma and the grocer's apostrophe.

Picking up on Bayleaf's post on comprehension, when I worked in the BT IT Training Department I attended a two-day course on technical writing and how to write technical documents for maximum reader impact. I use two spaces at end of a sentence (the forum chops one out) for instance and put in extra blank lines between paragraphs. Also font choice - a serif font is best for text bodies and a sans-serif for headings. 11pt on 12pt is the best size compromise. Century Schoolbook is the best - hence why it was designed for school books to help children absorb information. Always left justify as it makes word spacing even so eye flows better. Yet so many trendy designers create documents and templates for aesthetics rather than legibility (my current company uses double justification and a sans-serif font for text).

when I saw this heading on the DM 'Covid super-variant Omicron will take Britain back to 'square one' I misread it as Omacron - I thought good grief what has he been up to now! What I'm really saying here is that miss spelt is possibly not as bad as miss read?

We both had the Moderna jabs I had no symptoms whatsoever after my jabs. OH did, his arm ached badly for several days then he realised that the plaster keeping the cotton wool in place was far too tight when he took it off he felt so much better - I wasn't given a plaster just had to sit for the 15 minutes holding a cotton wool ball on the area still it stopped leaking blood which was hardly any.

On another note, OH's uncle who was a cattle farmer on an estate in Nottingham caught the Spanish Flu and died - how did he catch it, who knows?

Just chatting with a friend in the UK - she had Moderna booster on Wednesday and still feels grotty - yet was OK after her two AZ. However, this is the sniffles season so maybe she has a bug?

Here you have to be over 65 or have a special case for a booster. I tried to get my GP to give me a letter as a special case and he refused. I have to await my cohort in January or February. No wonder rates are on the way up - I am still in a grump!
