British media is full of Omicron. I’ve taken a look at French and USA news this morning and Omicron doesn’t get a mention. What’s going on?

It maybe that the labs aren’t able to test for it ,it maybe that it hasn’t hit them yet in any number,

It is the infectiousness, not the lethality, at issue and the resultant risk of the NHS being swamped.
The NHS already deprioritizes treating smokers and the obese from related illnesses - is it time to do the same for the unvaccinated?

but all we know is that someone has died and was omicron positive. We don’t know what they died from, their age or any other health conditions. IMO it is irresponsible for the government/media to broadcast cast this without knowing the facts

There's been plenty in the news here about omicron and the effectiveness of vaccines.
Yes, Pathca, the French labs can distinguish omicron from the other variants, but the infection rate is (currently) lower, maybe due to more folk wearing masks/not having Christmas parties

Could it be that France has maintained a degree of caution with measures in place whereas U.K. has been celebrating freedom day since July
