Now it was a very, very long time ago that I regularly sat astride two wheel fun, but seeing this Suzuki, I wonder, can you ride this in the rain? It looks like a wet arse and true water cooling for the engine. I would also imagine the oil cooler and radiator would be damaged by road spray from the front wheel. Can you brave born again bikers tell me if this is a dry weather ride only?

@ Polarengineer, rain and almost off-road conditions are not on the priority list when introducing new bikes, not to mention maintenance by the DIY. Where does this leave us, where the sun shines brightly, selected roads and a wealth of electronics?

I had a mate that had a Ural outfit. #( He used to call it The Urinal)
He bought it new on the profits of him selling his Black Shadow.

Big mistake. The Shadow would have provided a nice retirement nest egg.
Many decades ago I was subliminally influenced to distrust foreigners, secondhand car salesmen, and estate agents. That distrust has faded. The new kid on the block is Technology, and those who use it to exploit us.

Tell me about it.
Manse was a legend. Much has been written about him on the RAF Brawdy page.
He bought the bike as a box of bits from a widow from near Barnstable in the late 1970s.
The section head let him rebuild it in the section he was i/c of.
Pic of Vincent in the cottage that I shared with Manse and Paul (also late) taken abt. ‘74/5
He subsequently sold it for £5000.
Retirement nest eggs are all very well for those that get there.
A large proportion of my associates did not livelong enough.

I was once tempted by the little brother of the Yamaha above. XV535. Very pretty but just never stirred my juices like my rat Harley did years before. I sold the Yamaha to a nurse in Bournemouth. That wasn't a bad investment. She paid me what I bought it for new after five years of careful use. No use for a motorcycle when living on a boat.
