Yes. A 1941 Packard 110. It had a 6 cylinder lump with a three speed manual. Some clever options (for 1941), the push button tuning AM radio had a tone control. As you turned it from Bass to Treble the backlight went from red to blue. The aerial (over the windscreen) was raised by turning a knob above the rear view mirror. But the most mind blowing thing was something called an Electro-clutch. When engaged, it sort of automatically operated the clutch by a linkage to the throttle pedal. When the throttle was depressed the clutch pedal would raise and release the clutch and you moved off or changed gear. When you lifted off the throttle the clutch pedal would go to the floor ready for the next gear to be selected. It took a little practice to get the timing right but I suppose it was handy if you only had one leg (the right one)!

I found it in a used car showroom in L.A. in about 1969. It had been a one owner trade in against something newer. It looked a little sad until I compounded the dull paintwork to discover the most beautiful dark blue metallic in wonderful condition. The only thing I did to it was have the radio speaker re-coned and it sounded great. I originally intended to create a lowrider custom but it was so original I kept it that way and sold it on to a Packard enthusiast.

Those are some neat features. I guess no spirited driving but comfortable cruising.

It was one of those cars that eveything got quiet and calm as soon as you closed the door. Noticeably. Apart from a little whine as you went through the gears, it was pretty silent running.
