Mid twenties of another century, the island of Java. Detail: a former Dutch colony, yet the steering wheel is on the right-hand side. When the Dutch set foot in Indonesia in 1596, the system of driving on the left was introduced there.

Looks like those guys were stopping to let the car cool down. Water leak below the car tells the tale.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

A century ago: always a full sized spare tyre in the boot. Department unstoppable progress: this year, not any spare tyre in sight, lucky us, not in the middle of the Mojave Desert. These very helpful boys near Fresno had a tyre in stock for our Ford Edge, the only/last one...

About road holding and technical progress invented in the early fifties. Do you remember this one? A narrow escape for le Géneral, August 1962, Petit-Clamart. In total 185 bullets fired, only 14 hits. Impacts A and B were close... De Gaulle's first comment upon leaving the battered vehicle was: Ils ne savent pas tirer.

In his Simca he would have had significantly less chance of survival.

Nyftyons, I have sent you a message using the PM here. Should be in your inbox right now.

It might be a case of clicking on the send button twice: first you'll get a preview and then the system waits for the green light to really send a message. Keep smiling, your message is understood: you need somebody, not just anybody.....

The break down service for @ Niftyons was succesful: assembly in reverse order of disassembly, connectors back in place, no leftover parts such as a few screws on the assembly or kitchen table afterwards.

Break down services in the past. In other European countries: the past of this "General Dutch Cyclists Association" is still present, a nice yellow bike. Bicycles were avant-garde in 1883. And again modern in California, even in an HQ environment: a Google Campus bicycle.

The great example for the founders was the British Bicycle Touring Club, founded in 1878. A timeline of modern times. And this history is not complete without another French car: the 2CV, a multi-purpose vehicle.

La mythique Citroën DS, la Déesse among all the other classic cars. She is not averse to occasionally providing her earthly servants with multifunctional services, to a Bricomarché or even a déchetterie. Not this day, her servant gone, Sunday afternoon tea.

Nice pictures of a 1952 Rover P4 - 2.1, 6-cylinder.

In a much better condition than this Route 66 roadside P4.
