@ Polarengineer, as for technical information and attempts to get a handle on the MTBF: for decades, I bought the annual car magazines that listed all the data from the annual roadworthiness tests and breakdown service records. Not because I buy a new car every year – on the contrary, I keep them rolling – but out of interest. The very thorough tests from Germany, those from France and, every now and then, a selection from the abundance of British magazines, what is on the road there. That way, you at least get an impression of the strengths and weaknesses of everything on offer.

Nice to see the Brit magazine with my old canvas tilt 99 land rover (at least, one exactly like it). Designed to do precisely what it could do.
