A friend of mine sent me this picture from Madeira. Sugarcane production and transportation. An old Mercedes truck, probably the L 3250 series (1950), OM 312 engine, 6 cylinders, 4580 mL, 90 HP.

I thought that that was a VW minibus and not a campervan I question most things that I read.

@ Polarengineer, with the VW bus to the end of the world. But which one is the best? We find out, pack our bags and head out - with three VW campervans from three generations T1, T2 and T3.
I sincerely hope that these three German generations have the necessary information to end your uncertainty.

Of this I am certain. It is a minibus and not a campervan, as can be confirmed by the curved roof windows and no roof elevation. I once owned a VW van (not a bus or campervan) lovely bit of kit.

Our neighbour's Peugeot 403 pick-up. There's a fair amount of enthusiasm round here for old cars : there are regular meetings and we often see them driving around (in fine weather).

Two quick snapshots on an interstate in California, so I really don't know. Could also be a classic US car.
