The third cut is the cheapest

#1 Post by L Austin France »

Had three cuts today.
Mowed the lawn. Cost about 2 litre petrol say 4€
Cut 2 Ha of the field with my new broyeur .Cost about 15 litre diesel (guess) 30€
Haircut by my missus . Cost nothing but a lot of praise 'cos she actually made a half decent job of it this time :D

My newly rebuilt ride on managed to die after doing about a 20 metre strip. So I'll have to take the carb to bits (again) and replace the lumps of mush that used to be valves and seals. I reverted to the little walk behind mower. It took two days to cut about a third and used about four litres. My dodgy spine stopped play so the rest is unlikely to get done.

Mrs. N did mine today also. And she is very good also, it has to be said.

She does not read what I post in the joke thread, so it is still safe to have her wielding something sharp around my neck regions!

I'd be more concerned about the lower regions. :?

How many others sang the title? (Obviously with a slight word change!) Just me -

All the mowers, well most of them, came out yesterday after we'd pressurewashed the sand off the vehicles. Quick wash off, check blades (don't sharpen them until after the first cut of the season), oil, etc. The two walk-alongs that refused to start (after having been serviced by the "pwofessionals") last year roared into life. I wonder for how long. So that's two Kubuta ride-ons and three various walk-alongs ready for the off. The old Honda ride-on has too many carbouretter problems to bother with (project for Bayleaf Jnr) and one other walk-along beast belonging to a friend gave up and it's too big, heavy, noisy, and thirsty to bother with.

All done while I was off helping the neighbours exercise their horses on the windy hills! A far preferable choice!
