I first came across Vangelis with the 1979 album Albedo 0.39 and the A side is still one of my all time favourite tracks.

I was heavily into HiFi in the 70's and 80's and used to take the LP to try out systems as there are some really challenging passages in it which many bits of kit simply couldn't handle without distortion.

I also very much liked Aphrodites child and 1492, Conquest of Paradise.

Guess what I'll be listening to in the car in the coming days - and maybe weeks!

Don't scoff, there was such a thing albeit only for 45rpm singles.

They are asking silly money for them now.
