A music legend whom I remember with the Bluesbreakers and Eric Clapton.
He reached the age of 90 and during his lifetime influenced so many other « big » names.

RIP John Mayall
Hard Road, Bare Wires .... so many great memories of John Mayall's music - he was fabulous in concert.
It's amazing how many different people played together, formed new groups .... Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker, Peter Green ... to name but a few.
Fantastic music .....

Yes a tremendous throughput of talent. I listen to him everyday when I take the dogs out in the van - clearly, the dogs are oficionados of 60s and 70s R&B. I do not understand or appreciate what the term "R&B" has become and currently represents! - Back in the box boy and take your high horse with you.
I remember him with Keef Hartley on drums and on the KH album "Halfbreed", John Mayall did a little cameo of the sacking of Keef Hartley over the telephone.

A bit of an early groupie here! I even subscribed to the original fan club newsletter run by Maureen (?) I'm not sure whether they are in a box somewhere or got discarded when I moved to France. I probably saw most iterations of the Bluesbreakers line-ups from 1964-1970. I think the first John Mayall line-up I saw had John McVie, Roger Dean and Hughie Flint. Probably saw the Bluesbreakers about a dozen times at the A'Gogo in Newcastle (and possibly the City Hall) and about the same or more in London during vacations including the Manor House where Mick Taylor played his first official gig.
From what I remember from talking to them, the band members were all just employed by John Mayall so the turnover of members occurred if they annoyed him or asked for more money. Personally I didn't find John Mayall a very pleasant person but the music was good!

That certainly explains why there was such a turnover and so many newly formed groups ! I remember seeing Mick Taylor in the line up though I can't remember where the concert was.
