Trouble with P&O Ferries?
Leaked email to private security firm:
It was pointed out by one person interviewed, when talking about employee rights, that this couldn't happen under EU law. Employees would have been totally protected. Another Brexit bonus ....

Trouble with P&O Ferries?
I have always found P&O to be the best operator on the Calais Dover route, tried DFDS, think it stands for Dirty Effing Disgusting Ships, however the other week I noticed that Irish Ferries had crept in to the route. I don't know but I am sure the government could revoke any permits forcing P&O to cease sailing and give the routes to another interested party. Obviously you can't just buy a ferry off the shelf in ASDA, but there must be some laying up somewhere. As said probably a tit for tat job from the Czar.

That explains the queues for the traffic displaced to the tunnel backing up on Eastbound M20 last night.
Glad I paid the extra for the tunnel - was looking at using a ferry for this trip. Shall now avoid P&O and all related companies as best I can - even if they are/were better than DFDS.

The replacement staff are apparently Venezualan (sp). Cue the latest little shoulder rubbing antics of Putin and Venezuela's President, and I see something very much amiss here.
Also, the story that they're cost cutting doesn't add up. To pay out a "generous" severence package to redundant staff (if they sign the terms by a certain date), pay for a private firm to oust them out, then pay an agency to replace staff - agencies taking their cut. How is that cheaper?
Like I said earlier - something stinks rather badly here, and it's no coincidence.

@Bayleaf According to the FT https://www.ft.com/content/7a661f48-ccd ... 3f41345b8f
Irish Ferries, who will have three Dover-Calais ferries running Q1 2022, did something similar on their various routes.
The press reports mention Colombian staff not Venezuelan so no obvious Russia connection.Cyprus-based Columbia Shipmanagement, one of the world’s largest ship managers, confirmed that it was among the agencies providing the replacement crew.

It shouldn't happen under UK law - 45 days consultation is legally required - and now the directors can be prosecuted.
Will they be? Another question - did Boris pop into UAE on his way back from KSA?

Oh, I'm sure I heard Venezuelan mentioned on last night's news. If not, I stand corrected!
