OK I know JS - only 31 years of learning it.

And your credentials?

Regrettably, interpersonal skills and humility appear to have been missing from that 31 year learning schedule.

I have had exactly the opposite a delicate UV pond fitting, containing 2 silica glass sleeves and 2 UV lamps, delivered from Amazon in the "off the shelf" box, no extra protection whatsoever, needless to say it was in a million pieces so refused, then I had a job to get a refund.

I had similar with some plates - it was obvious the contents were broken, but the Amazon driver did a "leave the package and run" so we had the hassles of the returns process.

Having said that, when I had a hassle with a Market Place vendor selling knock-off stuff as genuine, Amazon did sort out the refund - but that is not a packaging issue.

Sometimes it is not the packaging, but the carriers - as in whether the box is at the top or bottom of a pile of heavy boxes. We have had that one before - I hope that it is the carrier that bears the cost in such instances, and not the vendor. Maybe a big box gives more protection in such an event?

I am having problems with a return at the moment, the original price with delivery has been refunded but the return postage of 10€ has been ignored, I spoke to someone at Amazon and they have brought it up with the vendor, subsequently they have asked why I had returned it. Flexi hose pipe after 1 day developed a leak, which I told them when requesting the refund

The whole mail order scenario is a gamble, just like buying a lottery ticket or marrying the right person on your first attempt.
I buy most of my stuff online to avoid mad prices or unavailability here. I was delighted to find a Sony 300 disc CD player online at a good price but fearful of buying it from UK. It is a complicated piece of electromechanical kit that weighs in at 8.5kg. It arrived in a cardboard box with only a thin film of bubble wrap around it. Horrified to see but when plugged in it was working perfectly and needed no repair or realignment. Just illustrates it is more to do with how things are handled by the delivery bods than how much cotton wool it applied.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Regardless of the box size, do these gadgets work to get weed roots out? Feedback on their effectiveness would be gratefully received.
