I've got fairies living in my garden just past the mushroom patch and behind the ginger bread house. 8-)

You're in good company with the likes of Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle.

Well, over 37% of the electorate voted for Brexit and over 34% didn't even bother.
You forgot to add a lot of them voted in Johnson as a so called prime minister.

I'm afraid my husband and myself have made our daughter smug over covid vaccinations - we've had three or four of them and brought covid back from the UK, which started off like a bad cold then progressed into something horrible which laid us up in bed for a couple of weeks, we are both still weak and tired, left with a cough and can't smell or taste anything.
Daughter and Grand daughter both live with us and haven't been vaccinated just had a little cough.

Work that one out if you can.
From the beginning, the older you are, the worse the impact of catching Covid has been. That is why (among other reasons) old peoples' homes were decimated but sports clubs were not. Being immunised helps reduce the impact of being infected. It does not eliminate it*. And the longer ago you were vaccinated, the more likely the impact will be worse.

* Often not appreciated, is that in order for the vaccine to work, you first have to be infected. Vaccines are not like a "Colgate ring of protection" stopping the virus getting in.

Hell, I know a religion called Bobinism whose leader is a huge goat called Marvyn the Magnificant which grants absolution if you stick your head in a bucket of excrement for a specified time. And you come out smelling of roses! There are millions of followers who believe his bleats absolutely.
Maybe they are right, who knows.
That's almost exactly the same as the initiation ceremony for the Brittany section. Only without the galette.......and the saucisse.

I don't like to talk about the goat. I still don't know how they managed to squeeze it in......

Thanks exile - I had always thought, probably told to me when I was a gullible child, that vaccines gave you a small dose of the virus which then made your body produce antibodies so that if you caught the lurgy you'd either get no effects or just mild ones.
Still at least now I should have natural antibodies, so if I do get it again it shouldn't be as bad - I'm just a bit cross that I had a load of crap injected into me for what appears to be no reason. I'm not having any more vaccinations though.

That would be a mistake @Char .

While a vaccine does not stop the virus getting into the body, it does mean the body is better prepared to attack and that in turn means that your symptoms will be less than they would have been.

The problem with Covid is that like the cold virus (actually a lot of different viruses) and the flu virus, it changes over time (all the different variants we have seen). Added to that is that over time your natural antibody levels decrease. That means that if you are attacked by the current Covid virus, your antibody levels will not be optimum and while they will attack the virus, they may not be as highly tuned for the specific variant that has entered your body.

If you don't get a vaccine top up you leave your body more and more vulnerable. A jab will restore your antibody levels and will give you a vaccine that has been tuned to the current variants of Covid.

If you have got "natural" immunity by having had a dose of Covid, your antibody levels will diminish over time just as if you had had the vaccine*. In that circumstance it is recommended not to be vaccinated within 3 months of infection but that does not mean you never need to be vaccinated again.

* That is why some people have had Covid more than once - indeed several times.

Imagine how ill or worse you might have been without any vaccine
