Getting out of the pit at 4:30-5:30 gives you all morning to do the outside work before it gets too hot. If need be, a midday siesta, but I usually have loads to do indoors so a siesta is a bit of a waste of time.

Three observations:
1) It's barely light enough to work outside at that time
2) Ground's way too wet for any cutting malarky
3) Pretty sure anyone else in the vicinity wouldn't be happy about hearing garden machinery going at that time of day! ;)

I felt bad enough waking up a nearby village with my strimming at 8am on Friday morning - client's garden right in the centre, next to the Church. Kept expecting someone to come along and shush me!

I started cutting my leylandi with a petrol hedge cutter at 0830 last Saturday. Forgot it's not allowed until 9am on Saturday. My neighbour came out in her nightie and stared at me so I stopped for 30 mins. She would have been up for hours, always is, but she's a miserable old bird. Constantly shouting at her poor old husband. At least I drew fire away from him for a while :D
