My friends on the Cherbourg peninsula have a few inches of snow this morning.

What little snow we had this morning has turned to icy rain. Heating on and fire lit !

My only experience with skating is with one of these. Gave it up at age 40 and bought a motorcycle.

TF1 news was naturally full of the weather. I was at a meeting in Saint Malo last night and a couple of people said they'd had bad weather alerts from the Croix Rouge, for the following day, on their telephones
Is this what people expect today ? Don't people bother to check weather forecasts themselves, particularly during the winter ? Or have they become totally dependent on having someone else inform them ?

@Hotrodder At least you'd get through on your skateboard - a bit of snow wouldn't be a problem

It snowed here all yesterday evening and night - about 7 cms and deeper in places because of the wing. Couldn't get the van out because it is above the road so dogs had to walk out the back and into snow filled fields ................... guess who's fault that was?

The road was gritted and laster ploughed but compacted snow is still in place atop it. The pile it has left at the side of the road will make it even harder to get the vehicles out - maybe it's a copious coffee and muffins day.

Whilst there was next to no snow here, the wind did a huge amount of damage yesterday and overnight to the oyster farms in Cancale. It's a hard enough job as it is, and Christmas/New Year is big business for them. We lost some panes of glass from the greenhouse but they're easily replaceable. The wind's gone round to the west today but they've forecast very high winds from the south all weekend.
