personally I think the more idiotic things that Trump does in the short term the better, I think a lot of people have stsrted to open their eyes, even the far right in France and Germany are distancing themselves. Hopefully it will all come crashing down soon. If he had been slower and chipped away as US democracy bit by bit I think that he would probably do a lot more damage. Either way, there is going to be a lot to repair afterwards.

There was a woman on newsnight last night, it might have been Carla Sands, former US ambassador to Denmark, not sure, but she was under the impression that the UK was a bit of an unsafe place, and compared Victoria Derbyshire's comments on Russian state control, you know assassination's, arrests, thrown out of windows, as being worse in the UK. Unbelievable that a representative of the US government would express these sort of inane beliefs, think she got a bit irate with Victoria as she kept on saying that's not what I asked you, not the question and the like. The normal politicians answer to a question, just skirt around it

Trump and his cohorts are doing some crazy stuff. Not all Republicans are Trump supporters and I hope that there are some who disagree with a lot it and a way will be found to reign him in.

I'm afraid he holds the reigns. I fear that anyone who attempts to interfere with his control and his agenda will find themselves 'disappeared.' Not unlike those who do the same to Putin.

I do think that something very dramatic (more so than what we're seeing) will happen due to Trump's agenda and not too far in the future. I obviously don't know what it will be, but I get a sense it will be really bad.

The French are all too ready to complain about Macron (as they complain about every President while he's in office) but he's a clever man, and he seems to have found a way to communicate with Trump. Trump has at least shaken up the Ukraine/Russia stalemate but he needs to be handled carefully and diplomatically if progress is to be made.

Relations between Europe and the US are unquestionably in crisis, so merely keeping things together as French President Emmanuel Macron did at the White House on Monday stands as an achievement.
He did that by praising, flattering and gently cajoling the US president as they took questions in the Oval Office and held a joint news conference. This is a playbook that many leaders around the world now see as more productive than outright plain speaking or criticism of Trump.
Macron managed to navigate what could have been a tricky day in Washington without conceding or revealing too much.
He spoke of both countries wanting peace, and while he gently corrected one of Trump's claims on Europe's support for Ukraine, he also agreed that Europe needed to take more responsibility for its own security.
But Macron did make one important concession – that Trump was right to re-establish some kind of relationship with Russia's Vladimir Putin.
That is in sharp contrast to the view up until now in London, Paris and Berlin, which have all pursued a policy of isolating Putin and slapping sanctions on Russian industries and individuals.
