The problem with many, but fortunately not all, of the associations here is they're often full of oldies. Some of these associations, a lifeline for many, were badly affected by Covid but seem to have recovered now. Fortunately our activities attract younger people which is great and keep us on our toes.
As far as the language goes, the only time we speak English is to each other and that is usually a rather peculiar mixture of Franglais interspersed with some German. I dread to think what it would sound like to others ! As OH is a translator, it's vital he keeps his written English up to scratch !!!
The only UK/Jersey cars we see are those that have come over on the ferry and are speeding south. Most of the secondaires here are French-owned - Dinard and Dinan are more popular with Brits and other nationalities. This is the first year that we've seen so many Italian cars, probably trying to escape the heat of down south. Otherwise it's mostly French, with a few Germans or Belgians.
