Thanks bayleaf seems like we are getting something at least, yet my state pension is not as much as they say the full pension is, £185, but then this is what they term the new state pension, where those concerned had only to contribute three quarters of what we did, to be entitled to more. Then there is something they quote me "contracted out", I remember in the mists of time signing something presented to me by a Union rep, Christ knows what it was all about, What with that and the dodgy accountant advising OH not to pay NI contributions, which has now left her short, if only we could turn back time.

I have been wondering what the full state pension is. Mine's a bit short of that figure, I assume because I was short of contributions.

The flat-rate state pension ONLY applies to those reaching state pension age on or after 6 April 2016. This means millions of older people aren't affected by it and have simply carried on receiving their state pension under the previous system. In short:
Retired post-April 2016? You will currently get a maximum state pension of £179.60 a week (£185.10 in 2022/23).
Retired pre-April 2016? You will currently get a maximum basic state pension of £137.60 a week (£141.85 in 2022/23) – although there's a top-up available for some called the additional state pension.

The NI years needed for a full basic state pension are:
Retired post-April 2016? You will need 35 qualifying years.
Retired pre-April 2016? Here it depends on when you reached state pension age.
– If you reached state pension age on or after 6 April 2010 you will need 30 years.
– If you reached state pension age pre-6 April 2010 you will need 44 years (men), 39 years (women).

Tongue in cheek, I'd guess, FF? DWP communications also come to us after a batch-posting trip to some such cheaper country. I suppose direct Royal Mail despatch is too expensive for Ms Coffey.

I got a letter from my pension people posted on the 21/3 in UK delivered here on 23/3 am.
